At the ends of the day…
other ideas
When I’m not creating campaigns or digital experiences for my clients, or helping to look after my children, I can often be found pursuing one of my other creative challenges:
- Photography — With a passion for the abstract and textured, I seek out the rougher edges of the built world around us. I leave the leafy landscapes to others, scouring the city for the stained concrete and rusty metal that defines our architectural past, present and future. You’ll find my photography site at photogr.aphyx.com.
- Illustration — During 2016 I took a few months to put together a book about my father. Conscious that my children would never meet their Grandad, I wanted to give them a idea of who he was and what he achieved, but in a format which would delight and inspire them. The book, “My Grandad”, was the result. Written with a 5 year-old in mind, I spent the months planning each spread, finding archive photos and drawing large colour illustrations on my iPad Pro, Pencil and Procreate. I published the resulting book and gave copies to my daughter and son, as well as my nephew in New York. Have a look at Just a little milk… / My Grandad.
- Writing — The success of the “My Grandad” book has spurred me on to more writing. Over the years, I have written volumes for work, from headlines and body copy to strategy documents and pitches. I also like to spend some time writing about things closer to home. As well as devising some books for my children, I published my first article on Medium early in 2017. Read more at Medium.com.
I’m also the father of two awesome children, and husband to a very talented garden designer.
